No, he's at www.chrisoshea.org … while I do some electronic music composition, I'm much more of an acoustic artist. He's the one involved in organising electronic music events etc. while I run science fiction "filk" events and play mostly rock & folk.
It is easy to list my work experience (my out of date Resume/CV (MS Word format)/Resume/CV (Text format)) or my hobbies/interests (music, magic, science fiction, movies) and activities (science fiction convention running, attending folk festivals, swimming, travel) but surely I’m more than that?
Well, I could list the basic stats of height, weight, age etc. but that’s what I look like, not who I am. I could list my book collection or the other items around my house and they would give you some clues, but again I’m more than the sum of my possessions.
Of course there’s more ... I’m the result of all the things I’ve seen and done, and all the places I’ve been. I’ve lived in the United States for a total of seven and a half years when I was younger (including three years of high school 1977-1980, and two week long sessions at magic camp). I’ve worked in hifi shops, at a recruitment agency (in the USA) and the usual job stacking shelves in a supermarket while at school. I even wrote a French O-Level package for the Commodore 64 while at Queen Mary College, London. And since graduating, I’ve been in continuous employment in a computer-based job working for companies in the financial, publishing, insurance and communications markets. I’ve also attended over 100 science fiction conventions and have worked on at least half of them (many at senior staff or committee level) including co-chairing the 2004 British National Science Fiction convention and being a committee member/department head of the 1995 World Science Fiction convention in Glasgow. I play sing and play various instruments in a very occasional band (mostly guitars, flute, bouzouki and bodhran), and like to join in with other musicians for jam sessions. I take a lot of digital photographs, but very much as a way of remembering events and capturing the moment rather than as an art.
The best way of finding out who I am is to talk to me. There’s an email address at the bottom of the page and if you put “COS:” in your subject line, then it will definitely get past my spam filters.
